Winter Holidays in Ukraine

  • 8-15 DecemberChanukkah, the Jewish feast.
  • 19  December, ST Nicolai day, when all children receive  gifts from Nicolai, according the tradition.
  • 24 December is Christmas Eve, which is celebrated in the west according the Gregorian Calendar.
  • Lutheran churches in Ukraine also celebrates this day.
  • 26 December, school holidays. Hurray!!
  • 31 December, New years Eve, all children receive their gifts from Father Frost,  which is the Orthodox version of Santa Claus.
  • 1  January, New Years day.
  • 2  January Holiday.
  • 7 January,The Othodox Christmas Eve, according the Julian Calendar
  • 8 January, Ortodox Christmas day. a day of rest
  • 14 January, The old New Year, as it was celebrated in old times. Also called the day of generosity.
